Stuffed Broiled Mussels


48 Toppits Green Shell 1/2 Shelled Mussels

1/4 cup water

1 large garlic clove, halved

1 large shallot, halved

Handful of flat leaf parsley leaves

Zest of ¼ lemon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 2/3 cups fresh white breadcrumbs

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste


  1. Preheat the broiler. 

  2. Mince the garlic, shallots, parsley, and lemon zest together – a mini food processor would be ideal for this.  Mix with the softened butter in a bowl and season to taste. 

  3. Dot each mussel with some of the garlic and parsley butter, then sprinkle with some of the breadcrumbs.  Arrange them in one layer on a baking pan and broil, close to the heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until they are crisp and golden brown. 

  4. Serve immediately on bed of salt.
