Tartar Dipping Sauce (Homemade)

Tartar sauce is the number one go-to for dipping sauce of battered and breaded fish. Easy to make at home, with these few ingredients.


  • 1/3 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 small dill pickles, finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp shallots, finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed

  • 2 tsp capers, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • Salt and fresh group pepper, to taste


  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to one hour. Serve alongside your favourite battered and breaded fish. Note: Remix tartar sauce before serving each time.
